Shailaja Behara, MD

Dr. Shailaja S. Behara graduated from medical school in India. She finished her residency in Internal Medicine in Evanston, Illinois, and fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago, IL. Dr. Behara entered private practice in 2001.

Dr. Behara is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and the subspecialty of Gastroenterology. She is a member of the American Gastrological Association (AGA), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), The Crohn’s and Collitis Foundation of America (CCFA), Texas Medical Association (TMA), Harris County Medical Society (HCA) and Texas Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (TSGE).

She serves on the medical staff at Houston Northwest Medical Center, Memorial Hermann at Northeast, Memorial Hermann at the Woodlands, St. Luke’s Community Hospital at the Woodlands and Kingwood Hospital.

Dr. Behara provides gastrointestinal consultation services at convenient clinic locations, hospitals and long term care facilities.

Outside of patient care, Dr. Behara enjoys educating the public on colon cancer and digestive disorders through speaking engagements at various healthcare seminars.

Married and a devoted mother of three children, Dr. Behara enjoys both the rigors of private practice and motherhood.
